Steve Jobs Resigns

What does the resignation of Apple's Steve Jobs mean for the mobile industry?

For starters, it could change the entire dynamics of the mobile industry.

While Steve Jobs will continue with Apple as its Chairman of the Board, he will no longer be an active participant or leader in the design or marketing aspects of Apple products.

This may mean that other mobile producers, including Google, Microsoft, RIM (Blackberry's owner) and others will be able to gain market share. Apple's leadership in mobile and other industries may be curtailed since it was Jobs' foresight and creative inspiration that really drove Apple to its current height.

Mr. Jobs replacement, Tim Cook, is considered capable of running Apple, which he did during Steve Jobs illness. However, it remains to be seen if he has the personality to create the waves of enthusiasm for Apple's products that was the hallmark of Steve Jobs reign at Apple.
